A new version of the Hogwarts Legacy Ultra Plus Ultimate Visual mod is now available for download, introducing more tweaks and improvements for much better visuals and performance.
Version 7.3, which can be downloaded from Nexus Mods, introduces performance improvements in the Transfiguration Courtyard and other locations inside Hogwarts and for cutscenes, thanks to the enabling of full texture streamers. The new version of the mod also improves ray tracing performance, reduces bloom on bright lights, enhanced light shafts, and more.
The Hogwarts Legacy Ultra Plus Ultimate Visual mod enhances visuals considerably, as showcased back in May in a 4K resolution video, so it is a good one to install if your system is capable of running the vanilla game smoothly and if you want to bring visuals to the next level. Even without this mod, however, Hogwarts Legacy looks and plays great, although it does little to innovate the open-world design made popular by Ubisoft games, as highlighted by Chris in his review.
So, long story short, I like Hogwarts Legacy and its story, but there are certainly some issues if you don't turn your brain off. While I'm rounding up, I should also say that once the game launched and I downloaded the update, the performance seemed to plummet on occasion. While I already saw a little slowdown when using Lumos, I started to see it even more, sometimes even when not using the spell. Performance-wise, I'm still not overly down on it, but there is room for improvement.
Hogwarts Legacy is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One worldwide. The game will launch on Nintendo Switch this November.
