Arrowhead Game Studios, the studio that developed the recently released Helldivers 2, is planning to expand the size of its team following the shooter's successful launch. The relatively small team of around 100 employees has been trying to address the many issues that have been plaguing its latest release.
Founded in 2008, Arrowhead Game Studios won the hearts of many with its debut title, Magicka, the quirky 2011 action-adventure game that allowed up to four players to journey through a world based on Norse mythology as a party of wizards. The studio has released The Showdown Effect, Gauntlet, Helldivers, and Helldivers 2 since then, with the latter being the company's biggest launch yet. As Helldivers 2 continues to gain popularity following its February 8 release, Arrowhead Game Studios has announced that it is set to take in more employees to aid with development.
In a Twitter post, Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt said that his company will start looking for more developers who can help accelerate and beef up its content plans. The executive noted that job listings will be up soon, but he also said that senior developers are free to take the «open application» route. Arrowhead Game Studios has not revealed its roadmap for Helldivers 2, but Pilestedt has told fans that there will be «massive updates» for the Sony Interactive Entertainment-published co-op title in the future.
Since Helldivers 2's somewhat troubled PC and PS5 launch, Arrowhead Game Studios has dropped several updates to deal with the game's issues. These patches have mostly addressed stability and connection problems, but they also prepared the title for upcoming server and matchmaking improvements — a sound move from Arrowhead Game Studios considering Helldivers 2's rising popularity and growing playerbase.
