Helldivers 2 is a pretty difficult game at the best of times, so players are always trying to find different ways to avoid or deal more damage to give them an advantage in the Galactic War. There are plenty of weapons to choose from, defensive options to take on the battlefield, but one of Helldivers 2's best current strategies is to lure a bunch of enemies to your location, drop a 500kg bomb on yourself, and then hug it out with your bro to avoid the resulting explosion.

If you're wondering how the power of a hug is enough to circumvent a 500kg bomb going off at your feet, YouTuber StandardAce (thanks IGN) recently demonstrated the method and exactly what you need to have to do it yourself. First off, either you or your hugging partner will need to have a Shield Generator Pack equipped, as this by itself is enough to prevent damage from almost any explosion.

Next, you'll want to try and gather as many enemy forces as you can to make your explosion as profitable as possible, and then call down your 500kg bomb stratagem right by your feet. Since the bomb will take a little while to drop, you'll need to kite all the enemies you've aggroed around that spot, making sure your fellow player is nearby at all times. Once you feel like the bomb is about to drop, hug the player with the Shield Generator Pack equipped, and you should both be shielded from the blast instead of just one of you.

It seems extremely unlikely that the Shield Generator Pack was actually designed to be used like this, so chances are this is just a very wholesome bug. That means it could very well be patched out at some point down the line, and one day you'll go in for a cuddle only to be holding chunks of them once the dust settles. Hopefully not, as it's very cute and in the spirit of the game, so let's keep our fingers crossed that Arrowhead sees the funny side of it.
