A hot new update for Helldivers 2 has dropped just in time for the weekend, and it’s a big one. Helldivers 2 update 1.000.12 is all about raising the server cap to allow for more concurrent players, hopefully putting the ‘Servers at capacity.’ errors and waiting queues to bed over the next few days.
Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt has confirmed that the new cap is set at 700,000 concurrent users, but anticipates that this will still see the server cap being reached.
The team had previously had to lower the cap the 460,000 concurrent players last weekend in response to a huge influx of new players and some kind of bottleneck or database write limits. The team has issued three more patches through the past week, targeting a variety of issues and bugs, but has also worked hard on the server backend and now seems confident that they can raise the limit once again.
SteamDB has tracked the highest PC player count in the game as being 457,000, so expect that to be broken tonight!
Elsewhere, this update has fixed a black screen issue with players getting stuck in cinematics, while an update yesterday – patch 1.000.11 – fixed several crashes, a smattering of PC-specific GameGuard issues, and implemented a new kick for players who remain idle for 15 minutes, to help clear space on the servers.
However, there’s a bevy of known issues still being worked on. You might still be hit with login rate limits and title screen errors, and there’s missing text and other problems. Find details of those below.
Here’s the full patch notes for the last couple of days:
Fixes
These are issues that were either introduced by this patch and are being worked on, or are from a previous version and have not yet been fixed.
