GTA 6, just like every other game in the series, will be a satirical take on the United States. Rockstar's sights are set firmly on Florida this time around, with the developer recently having confirmed the game will take place in Vice City, the GTA equivalent of Miami. To get the tone and absurdity of Florida as accurate as possible, it seems as though Rockstar looked to real-life events that took place in the state as inspiration for the game's first trailer.
A portion of the GTA 6 trailer is dedicated to video from an in-game social media platform, and it's these segments which are riffing on ridiculous viral videos that took place in Florida at some point or another. GTA fans have been posting clips alongside their real-life equivalents throughout the day (thanks IGN), and the amount of references Rockstar has managed to cram into 91 seconds is truly impressive.
Twitter account CentralGamingHub has managed to round up the majority of them, and you won't be surprised to find out that pretty much all the bizarre imagery is based on things that actually happened.
For starters, there's all the nude guys. It turns out there was a video that went viral a while back that featured a naked guy running away from police next to a gas station. Similarly, the guy in a thong watering his plants was inspired by a 2018 news report of an elderly man doing yard work in nothing but his birthday suit.
The man pulling the alligator out of the pool is based on an official news report, as is the alligator walking into the store, both common news stories in the state. The guy with the purple hair and face tattoos seen in jail is a reference to the infamous "Florida Joker" who was arrested back in 2022, while the old lady brandishing two
