When you think about Fortnite, you can’t help but marvel at the success that it’s had not just in the first year of its launch, where it “redefined itself” in a way that helped change its fate and the gaming world’s future, but how it’s sustained its success. It’s easily one of the most successful games ever because people keep returning to play it, and Epic Games keeps giving them reasons to. Each season is something fresh and exciting, and there are almost always new skins and events to come get and play so that you have something fun to do.
You’d think that at this point, Epic Games would have everything on lock and that they could just keep chugging along. However, as Fortnite gamers will tell you, there are some issues within the title, and not exactly in the areas you would expect. For example, as we’ve entered the new year, there is one “new year’s resolution” that they REALLY hope Epic Games hears and listens to: the need for a change in the item shop.
Confused? Well, it concerns the recent Winterfest event that started within the game. As part of the event, Epic Games wanted to “reward players” by bringing back older skins and items they might have missed when they originally came out to the shop. It’s a clever idea and one that gamers were initially happy about.
The keyword is “initially.”
Players noticed something odd and frustrating as the item shop started to cycle things around. Specifically, the items that kept “shuffling back around” were more recent or featured franchises that were already really popular within the game instead of the ones that many might have “missed out on” because they came out years prior. Players have noted that the Kratos skin hasn’t been available to get for over 1000 days!
