The GIGABYTE AORUS 17H was one of the first RTX 4080 gaming laptops to get listed on Amazon, and while we continue to wait for 15-inch and 16-inch machines featuring next-generation GPUs, we managed to catch this 17-inch unit, mostly because it is priced lower than most laptops with RTX 3000 graphics processors. Yes, that is correct; with its $2,389 price tag, the AORUS 17H is cheaper, and considering its specifications, it will be attractive for many buyers looking to procure the absolute best.
In terms of design and build quality, reviewers state that the AORUS 17H is made to last with a combination of metal and plastic, though the aesthetics give off that ‘gamer’ vibe quite a bit, unlike other brands that go for a more muted appearance. GIGABYTE likely wants its RTX 4080-powered gaming laptop to stand out. Speaking of the RTX 4080, this GPU can run up to 175W on this machine, which is the maximum power limit of laptop-based RTX 4000 graphics processors, so that is impressive to see.
Alongside that RTX 4080, we get Intel’s 13th-generation Core i7-13700H, which offers six performance cores and eight efficiency cores, totaling 14 cores. You also get 16GB of DDR5 RAM, along with a 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 SSD; both the RAM and SSD can be upgraded down the road quite comfortably. Keep in mind that the AORUS 17H is quite a thick gaming laptop, which you should expect since the RTX 4080 and 14-core CPU cannot be tamed with a thin cooling solution.
