The voice actor of Geralt in The Witcher series says he was scolded by CD Projekt for saying his character would be in The Witcher 4.
Back in August, Doug Cockle claimed he had yet to see a script for The Witcher 4, but also said: “We know that Geralt will be part of the game, we just don’t know how much. The game won’t focus on Geralt, so it’s not about him this time. We don’t know who it’s about, I’m excited to find out.”
Now, in an interview with Geektown, Cockle said he was given a stern talking to by the developer, and that he doesn’t actually know whether Geralt will be in the game.
When asked how he felt about Geralt no longer being the protagonist, Cockle replied: “Well, you know, I did go online and I said something about this and then I got slapped by CD Projekt.
“I don’t know how true it is. I went off a rumour – I thought I’d seen somebody from CD Projekt say that Geralt will be in The Witcher 4 but he won’t be the main character, and I don’t actually know if that’s true now.
“They came back [to me] and they went ‘we haven’t put anything out there, don’t say anything’, so the truth is, the answer to your question is I don’t know what it’s going to be.”
CD Projekt confirmed last month that The Witcher 4 had started full production.
“I’m pleased to announce that several weeks ago it moved on to full-scale production,” chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz said of the game, which is codenamed Polaris, as part of the company’s latest quarterly earnings results.
