After months of being the worst-kept secret in Fortnite history (well, until Peter Griffin eventually gets confirmed to be real), Epic Games has finally confirmed the rumours that the next season will feature the return of Chapter 1's map.
We're just a week away from the debut of Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 5, and while Epic thinks that it's been keeping things mysterious, we've all guessed for some time that it'd feature the classic Chapter 1 map. This was made obvious thanks to teases made by the Twitter account, evidence found in-game, and packages sent to content creators, but it still wasn't quite official and was just a series of elaborate, obvious teases.
The first major clue that Fortnite would be returning to the Chapter 1 map was a tweet from Epic Games that showed a character standing in front of a time machine with the date set July 12, 2018, which is when Chapter 1, Season 5 of Fortnite began.
Well, that's not the case anymore. Just a week before the new season, Epic has finally confirmed the rumours on Fortnite's official Twitter account. It shared an image of the classic Battle Bus set across a very traditional-looking Fortnite background, along with the caption, "
Sprint (or Mantle, your choice) back to Chapter 1....see you soon 11.3.2023."
Beyond confirming that we're going to be revisiting the Chapter 1 map, the tweet interestingly also debunks another rumour about the season that's been going around recently. Some insiders suggested that the new movement options offered in recent seasons like tactical sprinting and mantling will be disabled in the new season due to the map being so much simpler and focused more on building than movement, but this tweet implies that they'll be sticking around.
