The long awaited new entry in the Assassin's Creed series has finally unveiled gameplay during the PlayStation Showcase. Showing off a glinting city, the signature parkour, and the protagonist, Assassin's Creed Mirage is shaping up to be the smaller and stealthier entry Ubisoft has been promising.
Set up as a return to the series' roots, Mirage is a direct follow-up to 2020's Assassin's Creed Valhalla following Basim Ibn Ishaq in 9th century Baghdad. In contrast to the huge, spawling maps of Valhalla and Odyssey, Mirage will be a smaller and tighter affair with more focus on indoor environments, as the gameplay video demonstrates, and stealthy assassinations, unlike the more action orientated combat of more recent entries.

The first Assassin's Creed game in three years, it's the longest gap between titles in the series' history. Mirage was first conceived as an expansion for Valhalla before becoming a standalone release. As a result it'll be a smaller game, although as with Origins, with the longer time in development, it is hoped that Mirage will show a level of polish that many fans are hoping for.
As a smaller game, Mirage apparently will be priced at $50, rather than the $70 that is becoming the norm for triple-A launches, even on current gen consoles. More should be revealed about the game at Ubisoft's summer showcase on June 12.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is due to arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 12.
