Longtime Final Fantasy fans, and gamers in general, know that the series brings the heat when it comes to cutting-edge visual fidelity, especially on new hardware. We all marvelled at the PS1 FMVs in Final Fantasy VII, and gaped open-mouthed at that metal AF opening cutscene in Final Fantasy X on PS2. Normally, we do our best to forget that the whole Fabula Nova Crystallis detour on PS3 ever happened (but even those games were pretty), and XV was a showcase title for PS4 and still looks decent today.

It's a pretty impressive glow-up, and it's probably safe to say Final Fantasy XVI will blow our minds when it launches on 22nd June, regardless of whether you are newer to the series or a lifelong veteran.
