The Pan European Game Information service, PEGI to it mates, has leaked what appears to be a new Far Cry spin-off. The title, Captain Laserhawk Niji Warrior, features a “laser deathmatch” but without any gore as players just explode in to pixels.
The game is listed as having a release date of 19th December 2023 on PC, that obviously did not happen but PEGI are usually very good at not leaking things but it could be a surprise “It’s out now!” release during tonight’s Xbox Developer Direct. PEGI have also now removed the listing.
This seems to be related to the recent Netflix series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix which you really should watch, it’s very good. The Netflix show was a spin off from Far Cry: Blood Dragon, so that would make Niji Warrior a spin off of a spin off of Far Cry.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix is absolutely fantastic and mashes up Far Cry, Rabbids, Beyond Good and Evil, Assassin’s Creed, and Watch Dogs in an over the top story that constantly surprises, from the very first kiss to the nods to Metal Gear and a brilliant episode that plays like one of the first FMV games.
Like the Barbie movie, Ubisoft have clearly given creator Adi Shankar free reign to do what he liked and that includes a very beloved character being shot in the face and murdered, Pagan Min being very saucy indeed and Rayman doing huge lines of cocaine off the bum of a human cow.
I will just repeat that for clarity: Rayman doing huge lines of cocaine off the bum of a human cow. Yep, that happens.
Unfortunately Captain Laserhawk Niji Warrior has a very dull ’12’ rating from PEGI so we’re unlikely to see coked up Rayman or Pagan Min’s sex games. That’s a shame because if they did make a proper R rated game based on Captain Laserhawk I would buy it in seconds.
