A Far Cry 5 player has recreated a Far Cry 2-inspired environment using the game’s Arcade Mode. Map editors in the Far Cry franchise are nothing new, and they offer players a way to experiment with the sandbox. However, the map editor in Far Cry 5, which launched in 2018, received a significant upgrade, giving players access to assets from various Ubisoft franchises, including the previous Far Cry titles, Assassin’s Creed, and Watch Dogs. In Arcade Mode, players have complete control over a number of features, including the audio and terrain of the maps, which they can also share with friends.
With such a highly comprehensive tool at their fingertips, players have been using Arcade Mode to recreate maps and even environments from some of their favorite titles, and so it was only a matter of time before Far Cry 2 received the same treatment. Fans believe Far Cry 2 needs a remake for several reasons, including the nearly unforgiving survival mechanics that made it challenging and realistic. Since there hasn’t been any indication from Ubisoft of a remake happening, some fans have taken the matter into their own hands.
A YouTuber going by the handle Mojo Swoptops took to Reddit to share a screenshot of a Far Cry 2-inspired environment using the Arcade Mode of Far Cry 5. The screenshot showcases an encampment surrounded by rocky cliffs with some houses in the far distance. This encampment is just below a cave, which was revealed in a video set to a track from the Far Cry 2 soundtrack that Mojo Swoptops posted to YouTube to give fans a closer look. The video shows the player character exiting the cave and proceeding to stealthily take out some of the enemies before engaging in a gunfight with various Far Cry weapons to clear the enemy base.
