Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has revealed an XP multiplier is now live for a limited time in the popular third-person shooter as the team works on fixing a reward-related bug. A new patch for Helldivers 2 was also released with various bug fixes, server optimizations, and quality-of-life improvements, leading into the game's busiest weekend yet.
Helldivers 2 is the most successful game ever released by Arrowhead Game Studios, with over 250,000 peak concurrent players on Steam alone. However, the game's servers have struggled in the past week due to the influx of players, and the community even spammed the official Discord server with messages when the Steam version was briefly affected by server issues. Fortunately, the servers appear to be in a much better state with the February 16 Helldivers 2 update. The update brought improvements to matchmaking and overall server stability while also alleviating issues that caused game crashes on PlayStation 5 and PC. Helldivers 2 still has known issues that the development team is planning to fix in upcoming updates, including a bug that affects the amount of rewards given at the end of missions.
The official Twitter account for Helldivers 2 shared a message from deputy game director Sagar Beroshi, revealing that a 50% multiplier for player XP and Requisition gains is now active until Sunday, February 18. Beroshi and the development team are aware of the rewards bug that currently affects some players in the game, so the team decided to implement a temporary XP multiplier while working on the next patch. Players can tell if the XP multiplier is active by finding the «Accounting Corrections» Game Master Effect while on the Super Destroyer. Beroshi also thanks the Helldivers 2 community for their continued support and patience as the team works on fixing the game's issues.
