A notable Sega leaker has stated that the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is getting a spin-off game that is allegedly similar to Mediatonic's Fall Guys. The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise had an excellent 2023, between the release of Sonic Superstars, Sonic Frontiers' post-launch updates, and the launch of the Apple Arcade exclusive title, Sonic Dream Team. Expectations for Sonic's 2024 are set pretty high as well, with the premiere of various TV shows and the third theatrical live-action film. This premise would fit the franchise's speed-based platforming roots.
In a follow-up tweet from Andres Lopez from GoNintendo, who spoke directly with Midori, this will be a free-to-play game, with a summer release date allegedly set in place. The game's developer is also confirmed to not be Sega Hardlight, who previously worked on mobile games for the franchise, like Sonic Dream Team, Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, and Sonic Dash. With it
