At this point last year, I'm not sure even Baldur's Gate 3 early adopters knew what an absolute behemoth of a game it was going to turn into. It's made an ungodly amount of money, swept award shows like it was nothing, and has gone down as one of the greatest and most beloved RPGs ever made. To really drive home that fact, Baldur's Gate 3 recently passed the half a million mark for user reviews on Steam.
At the time of writing, Baldur's Gate 3 is currently sitting at 500,362 user reviews and climbing, and that number will be woefully out of date in just a few days as the user reviews keep rolling in. Take into account the reviews from players who received a code for the game, as these reviews aren't included in the official tally, and Baldur's Gate 3 is sitting at an even more impressive 560,710 user reviews.
Head on over to Steam's Most Reviewed page, and you'll find that over half a million user reviews puts Baldur's Gate 3 in some pretty esteemed company. Nestled between Warframe and Unturned, Baldur's Gate 3 sits in 25th in the charts, with the likes of Stardew Valley, Payday 2, and Destiny 2 slightly ahead of it. It's also managed to amass more user reviews than behemoths such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Skyrim, Fallout 4, and many, many more.
It should also be noted that Baldur's Gate 3 is currently the only game in the Top 25 to have been released in 2023, with Lethal Company at 39 being the closest competitor.
It's an impressive accomplishment, and one that really does cement Baldur's Gate 3 as one of the greatest of all time, hanging out alongside the likes of Elden Ring, Stardew Valley, Among Us, and Cyberpunk 2077. Even Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke has acknowledged the milestone via his personal Twitter account, thanking everyone that left a review and saying that reading through all of them has been "pure joy".
With all those adoring fans and accolades falling out the wazoo, attention has understandably turned to what's next for Larian Studios. While
