While the launch time frame stands for the end of March, the company is reported to have ordered 8.5 million units of OLED displays from its suppliers, hinting at potential demand.
Apple OLED iPad Pro will potentially be the biggest upgrade the iPad lineup has seen over the past decade. While the new panels are one of the major additions, the company is also expected to redesign the chassis and offer features like MagSafe and an even thinner profile. DigiTimes reports that Apple is seeking 8.5 million OLED orders from its suppliers in South Korea. This gives us an initial clue of the potential demand for the iPad Pro that Apple has set for itself.
Last year, Apple failed to launch any new iPad models, which resulted in a constantly falling demand for the product. Additionally, the results were also evident in the company's earnings call which saw a 10 percent decline in iPad revenue. While the lack of a new model is only one of the factors why demand was so low, the company also failed to innovate in terms of design and features. This year, the company is expected to upgrade its entire iPad lineup with upgraded internals and potentially new tweaks in design for the iPad mini and iPad Air.
