The Resident Evil franchise is one of the most popular franchises in the history of gaming, and so Resident Evil 9 is an inevitability. Capcom is focused on the Resident Evil 4 remake, Resident Evil Village DLC, and the multiplayer-oriented Resident Evil Re:Verse right now, but rumors indicate that RE9 is in active development at the company. It may be quite some time before fans get to see Resident Evil 9 in an official capacity, but in the meantime, they can check out a new concept video that imagines what the game could be like.
The video, created by Unreal Engine 5 YouTube channel TeaserPlay, shows longtime series protagonist Leon S. Kennedy walking around a cemetery. Before long, Leon finds himself surrounded by some of the Resident Evil franchise's most recognizable enemies. This includes Nemesis, Mr. X, Mendez from RE4, Jack Baker, and Albert Wesker. As these monstrosities approach Leon, he turns around and finds himself face to face with Lady Dimitrescu, one of the main antagonists of Resident Evil Village.
Resident Evil Village is Adding More Accessibility Options in the Big October Update
The actual Resident Evil 9 will almost certainly be nothing like this, of course. For one, it will most likely be built with the RE Engine instead of Unreal Engine. For two, it wouldn't make much sense for these Resident Evil villains to all be in the same place or working together. In the description of the video, TeaserPlay says that this is more of what a Resident Evil 9 DLC could be like, so maybe think of the concept as something non-canon, like the Re:Verse multiplayer game or The Mercenaries mode.
