It appears that Phantom Liberty may be the only major expansion coming to Cyberpunk 2077.
Developer CD Projekt Red officially announced the game’s first expansion on Tuesday, along with confirmation that it will be released in 2023.
However, a comment from the game’s official YouTube account suggests that this may be the game’s first and last expansion.
As spotted by XGP, the official Phantom Liberty trailer on YouTube received a comment from user Jonna Dragneel reading: “I am quite intrigued by this expansion. I hope in the future more will come out since this game has a lot of potential.”
This comment then received a response from the official Cyberpunk 2077 account, suggesting that there wouldn’t be more expansions to follow.
“Glad to hear we sparked your interest,” the comment read. “As for the future, Phantom Liberty is the only planned expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.”
VGC has asked CD Projekt for further comment.
Phantom Liberty is “a spy-thriller expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 set in an all new district of Night City,” according to promotional blurb accompanying the expansion’s trailer.
“We’re really excited about it,” Cyberpunk 2077 game director Gabriel Amatangelo said of Phantom Liberty. “It’s a new style of plot we’re having fun with.”
The game’s version 1.6 patch, dubbed the Edgerunners Update by CD Projekt Red, was released on Tuesday and will be the last major update for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
For the other versions, Amatangelo said: “Going forward a hugely requested feature from the community is coming up, and that’s a complete overhaul to the cop system as well as vehicle-to-vehicle combat. It gives you a whole new feel and dimension and immersion to the city.”
