Recently, Dan Harmon said a Community movie could definitely happen. He told The Wrap, «There’s a story – who knows if we’ll end up sticking to it, but it was something we had to compile in order to take it out and court various venues. And now negotiations happen.» Harmon also said the film is a «matter of when and not if.»
This is great news for fans of the sitcom, which aired for five seasons from 2009 to 2015. Since the final season of the series isn't an absolute favorite, it would be great for the characters to come back and for the story to wrap up in another way. But a Community movie only works if the entire cast can come back.

Several Community cast members have expressed interest in being part of the project and have talked about a potential movie over the past few years. In 2019, Alison Brie told PopCulture.com that she would portray Annie Edison in a film and wanted the movie to be on a popular streaming service. Brie also said that she wants the entire cast to come back. Brie explained, «I feel like if the Community movie ever gets made, it should just be made for Netflix, and it would be fun to do, but, I think it would be best if we could get everyone to do it, so I feel like that might be difficult.»
In 2020, Gillian Jacobs said on People TV's Couch Surfing that if there is a film, Britta Perry should experience "«Incremental growth.» Jacobs continued, «I mean, I wouldn't want her to have figured everything out, just a little bit. I hope she's figured out one more thing. But it wouldn't be really fun if she was suddenly like a person who had it all together,» according to Entertainment Weekly.
