For those unfamiliar with the game that is regularly featured in our weekly Indie MMO Spotlight column, Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore is a hardcore, old-school MMORPG that promises challenge, risk, and adventure for players that are looking for a more group-focused type of gameplay. The game is developed by Gellyberry Studios and published by Freedom Games, and it was released on May 1, 2023 on Steam as a free-to-play title.
However, despite its ambitious features, Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore has been plagued by an abundance of issues since its launch. The game has received mostly negative reviews on Steam at the time of this article, with many players complaining about bugs, exploits, balance problems, server instability, and lack of content.
One of the most serious issues that the game has faced is a series of DDoS attacks on the Ethersalos game server, which have caused frequent disconnects and lag for players.
