Epic Games has released a guideline for users facing "frequent crashes" with Intel's 14th Gen & 13th Gen CPUs within Fortnite, depicting that the instability issue is spreading rapidly.
The gaming industry has started seeing the effects of Intel's instability issues, as individual studios have elevated the issue to their respective users. Recently, we saw Alderon Games advising their customers to switch to AMD amid the uncertainties involved within Intel's camp, and along with them, the staff at Warframe gave us a detailed look at how Intel's processors are resulting in widespread gaming crashes, with 14th Gen & 13th Gen CPUs being the primary culprits.
The issue isn't specific to certain titles, as now Epic Games has released a guideline for users experiencing in-game crashes at Fortnite, specific to Core i9-13900K/KF/KS or Core i9-14900K/KF/KS SKUs according to them. Here's how Epic Games advises its users to mitigate the instability problems:
This fix will implement the Intel Baseline default settings, which reverts the CPU to Intel's factory default settings by lowering power limits and improving stability in games. We have already covered this fix in depth previously, and while implementing baseline settings does fix the issue to a certain extent, it does come with massive performance degradation, and in some cases, the performance has dropped down more than 10%, which is certainly huge.
Well, it looks like, for now, all the remedies presented by Intel either do not solve the problem or result in some sort of compromise, whether it is in performance or the general quality of experience.
