Today brings Elden Ring's 1.09 update. The big deal is the new ray tracing option that changes up the game's lighting to be more realistic on current-gen consoles and PC's with the hardware to run it. Tarnished seem more excited about the massive balance pass that update 1.09 brings to both Elden Ring's PvP, including nerfs to some of the more annoying meta builds.
Chief among them was a strategy that had opponents wield twinned weapons with long reach and continually spam jump attacks. That strategy has been significantly curtailed with nerfs to the damage bonuses provided by White Mask and Raptor's Black Feathers armor, and the range of "some attacks" being shorted on Thrusting Swords, Spears, Great Spears, and Halberds.

"Finally a huge nerf to jump attack spammers and White Mask users," wrote one Tarnished on the Elden Ring subreddit. "SO sick of seeing White Mask and Raptor's Black Feather." That sentiment was shared by quite a few users happy to see White Mask and Black Feathers hit with nerfs.
Elden Ring PvPers are also celebrating the death of the Fire's Deadly Sin / Bloodflame Blade exploit, which would cause bleed damage based on an opponent's proximity and without any need to actually be touching. Intelligence builds have also been struck with nerfs to Terra Magica and Founding Rain of Stars, which is a strategy that can completely stymie certain short-range builds.
Other fun balance changes that Tarnished should definitely take note of is the increased attribute scaling for Colossal Swords, Great Axe, Hammers, Flails, Great Hammers, and Colossal Weapons.
