It's evident that a lot of love, lore, and attention to detail went into creating The Lands Between for Elden Ring. From getting George R.R. Martin to conceptualize the overarching lore, to the least relevant NPC, FromSoftware has possibly created the best video game open world till date. With all that in mind, it would have been a shame if the devs didn't add more content to it. In time, we saw FromSoftware open up the Coliseum and introduce PvP battles. A new story DLC called Shadow of the Erdtree has also been announced, and conspiracies about it are still abound.
However, the most recent 1.09 update to Elden Ring finally introduced ray-tracing. FromSoftware had promised the feature a while back, but it took some time to finally roll out. The devs were also cautious, warning players that enabling the feature could have effects on performance. That probably has something to do with the massive glowing tree you can see from anywhere in the overworld. However, it seems that it isn't just the performance that players have an issue with, it's the ray-tracing itself.

Twitter is currently filled with players complaining that the ray-tracing feature doesn't change all that much to the lighting system of the game. While many of these are just straight up complaints, others complained the only way they knew how – through memes. It seems the complaints are about two major things – first, the feature doesn't seem to change all that much in the visuals. And secondly, when enabled, performance for some players drops considerably – even slowing down instead of skipping frames.
