Here, Boon responded to users specifically asking about the customise options by telling them to "wait and see". Given that this is the same Q&A that Boon used to tell us about the upcoming EVO reveals, it's possible that he's hinting that more will be explained here, letting us see if gear from Mortal Kombat 11 is making a return.

Specifically, he replied to questions regarding whether MK1's cosmetics will be more like MKX or MK11, since they had pretty different ways of changing a fighter's appearance. MK11 actually faced some criticism from fans, who said that the gear system gave them way too many cosmetic changes, accusing the devs of favouring quantity over quality.
