Geras is on the base Mortal Kombat 1 roster, acting as the guardian of the Hourglass. He now works for Liu Kang, following the demise of the previous Keeper of Time, Kronika.
This is Geras' second appearance in the series, having been introduced in Mortal Kombat 11 as an antagonist. It now seems that the roles are reversed, as he now works to protect Liu Kang's "perfect" timeline. However, seeing the kind of moves Liu Kang is throwing out at his unfortunate enemies in this new trailer, it's possible that the pair won't exactly be do-gooders either.

As well as getting a peek at his role in the main story, the trailer also shows off his new moves. Unsurprisingly, they're all centred around time and look absolutely devastating. One move has him pause his opponent, letting him wrack up a huge amount of damage until they can move again.
Even though we've seen plenty of him already, Liu Kang still steals the show. In what appears to be a Fatality, the Keeper of Time drags his opponent up into space and watches as they're slowly ripped apart by a black hole. Geras isn't messing around either, conjuring up a sandstorm and holding the enemy's face to it, peeling the skin off their skull. Lovely stuff.
Other than that, it's your usual gory fighting to the death. But we do see a little more of some Kameo fighters in action. In one instance, Geras just straight-up throws Darrius at his opponent. Kameos really don't mind putting themselves in harm's way, it seems.
This latest trailer was unveiled at DreamCon, which is also hosting a Mortal Kombat 11 tournament. Before we got the Mortal Kombat 1 news, we got to see players face off against one another.
