The UEFA Euro 2024 tournament will be featured in EA Sports FC 24 next summer, as EA confirmed that one of the biggest international competitions will be in their rebranded football game series.
Euro 2024 will be added in a free in-game update next summer, but are starting early with the tie-in promotions. Anyone that plays FC 24 before 16th January 2024 will be awarded an exclusive, untradeable Ultimate Team Player item. These will be handed out starting on 18th December, and include the following six players
“We’re delighted to announce that one of next summer’s biggest football tournaments will be fully integrated across EA Sports FC titles,” said David Jackson, Vice President of Brand for EA Sports FC. “Alongside our fantastic partners at UEFA, this exclusive Euros content will enable EA Sports to continue delivering the most authentic and innovative football experiences for our fans.”
EA Sports will also be the official platform for UEFA’s new eEURO esports tournament, which will feature the best gamers and have them represent national teams. This will be an annual tournament with qualifying phases leading up to a live final, the first running of which will take place this summer.
EA are seemingly enjoying life after the official FIFA license, having dropped out of an increasingly expensive branding partnership for the 2023 release of their annual football game. FIFA 23 was released at a time that meant it could feature both the men’s World Cup in winter 2022, as well as the women’s World Cup in summer 2023. With the next World Cup not until 2026, EA has three years to continue to dominate the football game landscape, and we’ll see if they just grab a more limited license for the World Cup.
