Dragon's Dogma 2 will have you doing a lot of walking, and I mean a lot. It's part of the game's satisfying gameplay loop, having you trek across vast swathes of wilderness, fighting off everything from little goblins to enormous griffins. Despite that, there are some moments in which you just can't be bothered to walk somewhere, especially if it's on the other side of the map, so some players have taken to catching a ride on the Sphinx for easier travel.
If you haven't encountered the Sphinx yet, we don't blame you. She's tucked away in a very secluded part of northern Vermund called the Mountain Shrine, which you can find via traversing through an Ancient Battleground and a series of caves and ruins. Once you're there, the Sphinx will give you five devious riddles to solve, each one increasing in absurdity and difficulty, but rewarding the player with some neat swag such as Ferrystones and Portcrystals.
Once you've solved all the Sphinx's riddles in the Mountain Shrine, she'll begin to fly away to another location, and that's your window to hop on her back and go for a ride. Twitter user Jonathan Irwin was one of the first to realize you can actually grab onto the Sphinx, like you can any other big monster, and she will take you extremely high into the sky and a considerable distance.
In fact, depending on where you are in the game, you could consider this a very convenient way of getting past the Battahl checkpoint for the first time. Entering Vermund's neighboring country isn't as simple as walking across the border, and while there are various different ways to infiltrate the country, flying on the back of a Sphinx is arguably the one with the most style.
That being said, it's likely that the Sphinx ride is a one-time trip, so if you do need to get to the other side of the map and want to cut out a good hour of walking, you could do worse than take a detour and hitch a ride on the back of the Sphinx.
