Though the open beta forDiablo 4 goes live today, free for all worldwide, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti users may want to exercise caution. Following reports, the development team has confirmed it’s investigating instances of the graphics card crashing or straight-up failing due to the beta.
Blizzard is “working closely with Nvidia to identify affected hardware configurations and gather as many data points as possible to assist in the investigation,” per customer support. In the meantime, those whose GPU isn’t working should perform a full power cycle. If the device is detected by Windows, then perform a clean driver install.
If that doesn’t work, players should provide details on their GPU card vendor and model number, the resolution and graphics settings while playing the Diablo 4 beta, and so on. For RTX 30 series users, some have suggested capping the frame rate through Nvidia Control Panel as a workaround. It’s done by right-clicking on Desktop and selecting Manage 3D Settings.
Enable Max Frame Rate and specify the figure – even the monitor’s refresh rate works. Apply and either restart the game or your system. Stay tuned for more updates on a proper fix in the coming days.
Diablo 4 is out on June 6th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. The beta goes live at 9 PM PDT today and ends on March 27th at noon PDT.
