Destiny 2: The Final Shape Pre-Orders Are Reportedly Tracking Below Expectations
More than six years on from launch, Destiny 2 seems to have hit an all-time low. Recent reports have suggested that the game has seen a sharp decline in engagement and popularity since the launch of its Lightfall expansion, with the game’s underperformance having contributed to layoffs at Bungie that have reportedly seen about 100 employees losing their jobs.
And though Bungie will obviously be hoping for a brighter future for itself and for its long-running looter shooter, it seems Destiny 2’s next expansion isn’t attracting as much interest as the company would have hoped.
That’s as per IGN, which has claimed in a recently published report that pre-orders for the upcoming The Final Shape are lower than what Bungie has been internally projecting. Interestingly, Bloomberg has also added that the feedback the expansion has been receiving during development has been “good, not great”.
Meanwhile, it’s also previously been reported that Destiny 2: The Final Shape has been hit with a delay (alongside upcoming Bungie extraction shooter Marathon), and will now launch in June 2024 instead of February.
