Bungie has now revealed the big seasonal weapon that's going to headline Destiny 2's Season 20. The Season of Defiance, as it is officially known, is themed primarily after the Awoken and their Techenun witches, and it's seemingly going to take place mostly on Earth, where the Darkness-wielding Cabal have set up for a new war campaign against the Last City.
While the new Destiny 2: Lightfall ViDoc provided heaps of new information about the expansion itself, as well as some helpful context about the Season of Defiance, Bungie had even more information to share later on. Though the developer is still keeping many cards close to its chest, fans now have a substantially better idea of what to expect from both the Lightfall DLC and Season 20 itself.
Bungie Will Let Players Skip Destiny 2: Lightfall's Campaign for a Cost
According to the latest Destiny 2 TWAB, one of the most important weapons of the Season of Defiance will be the Ecliptic Distaff. This Awoken-themed Void Glaive is going to come with two all-new perks, too: Replenishing Aegis and Destabilizing Rounds. While the mere names of these perks do suggest their functionality, Bungie hasn't provided any further insight on that front. Much as was the case with all the previous seasonal ritual weapons in Destiny 2, players will also have a chance to unlock special activity-themed ornaments for the weapon after unlocking it.
It may be worth highlighting the fact that the Season of Seraph featured a Legendary variant of Destiny 2's Revision Zero as a ritual pulse rifle. Some may have expected Season 20 to take a similar approach, with the ritual being a mass-produced variant of some exciting new Exotic armament.
