The series has seen its fair share of spoilers slip out in the past thanks, largely, to Destiny's marketing materials leaking or dataminers uncovering data, but Bungie's hands have been usually been clean. Depending on how the narrative in the new expansion plays out, though, Bungie will be directly responsible for letting slip a cataclysmic event set to hit the Sol System.
The Destiny universe has seen its fair share of disasters befall the various races currently occupying the Sol System, the most pertinent to humanity being the Collapse. However, a little digging in the lore will uncover other cataclysms to befall other beings across the galaxy, whether it be the Elkisni Whirlwind, their equivalent to the Collapse, or the various races the Hive have wiped out over several millennia. The Cabal suffered the most recent disaster in Destiny 2 as they, under the leadership of Empress Caiatl, were forced to flee their homeworld after a mass Hive invasion led by Xivu Arath.
