David Harbour shares his strong opinions on method acting and calls out Daniel Day-Lewis in the process. The American actor is best known for his portrayal of Hawkins Police chief Jim Hopper in Netflix's hit supernatural series Stranger Things. However, Harbour got his start in theatre, where he was trained in classical American method acting. From there, he made the transition to feature film as a character actor, starring in Brokeback Mountain and Revolutionary Road in supporting roles.
Riding off the success of Stranger Things, Harbour starred as the titular Cambion in 2019's Hellboy, which was a critical and financial failure. The actor soon rebounded by joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Russian super-soldier Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian in 2021's Black Widow as part of a star-studded ensemble that also included Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz. Following a lengthy production process due to the pandemic, Harbour returned as Hopper in Stranger Things season 4 and has recently been making the rounds fielding all types of questions related to the hit Netflix series and other hot-button topics.
