Although South Park season 25 struggled to justify Randy’s status as one of the show’s lead characters, the upcoming feature-length special The Streaming Wars Part 2 might be able to fix this story issue. In recent years, South Park has had some difficulty balancing the show’s stories between its original leads, Kyle, Kenny, Cartman, and Stan, and Stan’s fan-favorite father Randy Marsh. Initially, Randy only appeared as the main character in occasional episodes, some of which proved popular with fans ofSouth Park.
However, Randy eventually became an unofficial South Park lead character, resulting in some storytelling problems. The show’s satire wasn’t as heightened or ridiculous when it came from an adult perspective and, by South Park season 25, Randy’s main character status became a drain on the comedic momentum of the series. However, South Park’s next feature-length special The Streaming Wars Part 2 may have a solution for this issue.

South Park 25 could not find a way to make Randy both engaging and funny as the show's new main character, often relying on his goofy antics but never grounding them with any stakes. According to the special’s first teaser, however, The Streaming Wars Part 2 will see Randy go “full nuclear Karen” at Pi Pi’s water park. This twist means that South Park may have found a use for the hot-headed, self-centered character’s entitled attitude that is fitting, funny, and helps the plot of the otherwise stalling special progress, which is particularly valuable when The Streaming Wars didn’t necessarily need a followup otherwise.
