Cyberpunk 2077’s Now Has a Wolfenstein 3D-Inspired Retro Arcade Game Thanks to Update 2.0
While Cyberpunk 2077 has seen quite a resurgence thanks to its recent 2.0 update and the release of its Phantom Liberty expansion, developer CD Projekt has hidden quite a few new Easter eggs in the game, with a recently discovered one being a retro-inspired 90s-styled FPS.
As caught by Eurogamer, the minigame can be found by players in a church near the Protein Farm in the Badlands area, and is titled Arasaka Tower 3D. Riffing on the classic Wolfenstein 3D, the minigame features its own retro-styled soundtrack based off the music in Cyberpunk 2077.
Arasaka Tower 3D seems to be part of a larger batch of mysteries in Cyberpunk 2077, however. Players have been able to discover that the minigame links directly with a mystery referred to by the community as FF:06:B5. Doing specific things in the minigame, which includes waiting for a timer to reach 270 seconds in server room 971229 on floor 52 unlocks a hidden maze on floor -10, where a series of QR codes were discovered.
Piecing the QR codes together, along with using a series of error-correcting codes called the Reed-Solomon codes, players were able to find a Python script for a game of Tic-Tac-Toe against an AI that seemingly can’t be beaten. The mystery seems directly linked to Solomon Reed from the Phantom Liberty expansion somehow, and the community is still exploring for more clues.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty was recently released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and brings with it an entirely new series of story missions set in the Dogtown area south of Night City. The expansion’s release was preceded by the release of update 2.0, which brought with it sweeping changes to the title.
