Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is said to be the first - and only - expansion coming to Night City, aside from the Edgerunners update. It's now been two years since the release of Cyberpunk 2077, with CD Projekt RED spending much of that time reworking and patching aspects of the open-world since it saw a rather buggy, borderline broken launch. With the most recent substantial update adding new hairstyles and content related the Netflix Edgerunners series, attention is now turning to the Phantom Liberty expansion which is set to drop in 2023.
After launching two teaser trailers in 2022, CD Projket RED later confirmed some details about the expansion. We now know that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is set to be a "spy-thriller expansion", and that's going to be "set in an all new district of Night City." During The Game Awards 2022, we also got a thrilling second trailer for the DLC – and the CDPR team also dropped the revelation that we'll be teaming up with Idris Elba to explore the new content. The Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty release date is currently TBC 2023. The upcoming expansion is only planned for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, following CD Projekt Red's decision to phase out support for PS4 and Xbox One.
CDPR confirmed this on September 6, 2022, as it announced that patch 1.6 "is the last major update for the old-gen consoles."
