Japanese games giant Capcom is going to be raising how much its staff and future graduate hires are paid.
In a notice to investors, the company said that starting in the 2025 fiscal year, it would be increasing monthly graduate compensation by ¥65,000 ($438), taking this entry pay from ¥1,587 ($$$) to ¥300,000 ($2,026).
Furthermore, Capcom says that during fiscal 2024, it will be increasing salaries for current employees by an average of five per cent. On top of that, the Japanese publishing giant, plans to give employees - both current and those who join during the 2024 financial year – a one off payment "as an investment in the people who support the future of the company".
"The Capcom Group is focused on strengthening its capabilities with development and technology in creating world-class quality games in order to enhance sustainable corporate value," the company wrote.
"To promote its Human Resources investment strategy, one of the Group’s highest priorities, since 2022 it has carried out a number of initiatives to invest in its people.
"With this increase in starting salary, Capcom is pursuing further investment in human capital and the acquisition of exceptional talent. In conjunction with the decision to raise starting salaries, Capcom will provide its current employees (including new employees that join in fiscal year 2024) with a one-time special payment as an investment in the people who support the future of the company."
