Another Pokemon trainer saw a wholesome moment turn into something even more incredible when they received packs with rare Pokemon cards from their grandma. This time, a Pokemon fan found a rare card under very unlikely circumstances.
Reddit user Shadowadra found the valuable Pokemon card Iono inside a trashcan. In the post, they say that they work in a kindergarten, and when looking in the garbage can, they found the slightly damaged card based on the third Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Gym leader. Along with the card of the Gym leader, who is also an influencer and streamer, they found the card Nemona's Backpack, and the EX card Toedscruel, with the illustration of the Groud/Grass-type featured in Gen 9.
Iono is a support card released last year along with the Paldea Evolved expansion, the second Pokemon TCG expansion based on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The Iono card has six variants with different illustrations, including the special rare one made by artist kirisAki that came out first with the release of the expansion in Japan. As a result, Iono has become one of the most expensive Pokemon cards of 2023, being found on eBay for prices ranging from $220 to $2,499, in this case being a mint condition copy of a Japanese edition of the card.
