On April 24th, I shared the news that Brown Dust 2 was bumping up the age rating in South Korea. Neowiz, the publishers, tweaked the age requirement from 12+ to 19+ starting April 25th. I also said that this age rating bump wouldn’t hit other places, but it looks like I was wrong! Yep, now Brown Dust 2 global age rating is also getting tweaked.
Brown Dust 2 global age rating is increasing from ’12+ years old’ to ’17+ years old’. This change is hitting every region all at once. After the changes are implemented, you’ll need to confirm you’re of age in each store to keep playing. But here’s the scoop: This change will only happen on the App Store for the time being.
Actually, the Korean Game Management Committee’s decision to increase the age rating had a ripple effect across regions. Apple’s App Store has this policy where an age rating update has to happen everywhere at once. However, they’ll let us know the exact date of the change later.
The whole situation with gacha games being accessible to kids as young as 12 has always struck me as odd. In my honest opinion, Brown Dust 2 has some pretty cheeky and lewd animations. Finally, it looks like Brown Dust 2 is stepping away from that. I mean, it’s high time other games do so, too (NIkke, I see you) instead of dialling down content just to hold onto a 12+ age rating.
So, when will the Brown Dust 2 global age rating tweak hit Google Play? We’ll just have to wait and see how long that sticks now that the App Store has made its move globally. Meanwhile, get your hands on the game if you haven’t played it before by grabbing it from the Google Play Store.
An epic crossover is going down. It’s Tanks Meet Turtles In World of Tanks Blitz x TMNT Crossover!
