Super Mario fans have been enjoying a resurgence in RPGs at the moment, with the remake of Super Mario RPG that launched last year and the upcoming release of a Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remaster that's coming next month. It's pretty clear that Nintendo has been diving into Mario's RPG offerings to see what fans still like, and a recent survey has suggested that it may not be done just yet.
First shared by Reddit user Aspharon on the Mario subreddit, it seems as though Nintendo is currently gauging the opinions of fans who have experience with the various Mario RPG series that have been released across multiple systems, including Paper Mario, Super Mario RPG, and the criminally underrated Mario & Luigi series on the Nintendo DS (thanks GamesRadar).
Questions in the survey include things like asking fans what their favorite Mario RPG series is, their favorite battle systems, what features they expect to see in a Mario RPG, and whether they like it when new characters are introduced, or whether they'd rather them stick with the old cast. None of this obviously points to more RPGs in the future, but Nintendo wouldn't be asking these questions if it didn't want to know the answers.
That hasn't stopped some fans from getting rather excited on social media, pointing to this as proof that some cult classic RPGs are returning. If you're frantically checking your email inbox to join the legions of people calling for more RPGs in an attempt to shove your opinions in Nintendo's face, you're out of luck if you're not European. Currently, only those from countries in Europe have been given this survey right now, though we can probably expect it to go out to more territories pretty soon.
