FromSoftware, best known for its Souls games (Elden Ring, in particular), is returning to a mech-action series it launched back in 1997. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is set to launch in August, and once again tasks you with assembling, customizing, and piloting giant mechs. In the run up to the game's launch, there's one question that needs answering: is your gaming PC good enough to run it?
The last entry in the series launched 10 years ago in the form of 2013's Armored Core: Verdict Day for PS3 and Xbox 360. We've had two console generations since then and huge leaps in graphics card and processor performance, so there's understandably a lot of hype surrounding how good this game looks.
In Fire of Rubicon, you pilot ultra-destructive war machines that can be outfitted with different parts to boost their power and performance. Each mech has four weapon slots, one in each arm and two on its back, so that you can customize the machines to your liking.
According to game director Masaru Yamamura, an incredible array of melee weapons will be at your disposal. You'll wield cluster bomb throwers, bazookas, razor-sharp chainsaw/pulse blades, plasma rifles, and powerful lances. In addition, many other "idiosyncratic weapons" are waiting to be discovered if you're looking for something unconventional.
Armored Core VI has a single-player campaign, as well as multiplayer game modes. Although the maximum number of players hasn't been confirmed, rumors persist that Fires of Rubicon will support 12-player mech battles in multiplayer mode.
You can preorder Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon on Steam(Opens in a new window) for $59.99 (or $69.99 for the Deluxe Edition that adds a digital art book and soundtrack). People who
