We're long overdue for another Tomb Raider game. But if the rumour mill is to be believed, we'll finally get one soon. A recent update to the Tomb Raider website only ignited these hopes, and now a Call of Duty crossover event might have proven us all right - only if quite an unexpected way.
Instead of opting for her recent design, this new Call of Duty skin brings back classic Lara Croft, with her iconic turquoise tank top of long braid. She's even dual-wielding pistols again, because who cares about practicality when you look that badass? Fans are incredibly pleased to see this retro look get some love and are even hoping that this might hint at a return to basics in the next Tomb Raider game.

The skin was shown off on Call of Duty's socials yesterday evening, and immediately caught the attention of fans. It's coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone next week, but even if you don't play either of these games, this is a noteworthy development. It shows that Lara hasn't been forgotten about in the long wait for a new game.
As some have pointed out in the replies, we might have a new face model too. This would line up with rumours about the next Tomb Raider game being in development, as they would presumably have a new Lara model to use by now.
While the design choice might mean nothing, some fans think it's hinting that the Survivor trilogy is well and truly behind us. Indeed, this Lara looks incredibly different from the design we got in the last few games, so it could be that we're waving goodbye to this era of the series.
