With the tedious courtroom drama involving Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard finally coming to a close, and the commitment that the franchise will continue to release on PlayStation for the next decade at least, the actual Call of Duty game is poised to take centre stage once again. Recently, developer representatives showed off gameplay to NBA players – and an announcement can’t be far away.
Of course, this year’s game is rumoured to be Modern Warfare 3, and speculation from a notorious leaker suggests weapons from Modern Warfare 2 may transition to the new game. This wouldn’t be wildly surprising, as it was originally suspected that this year’s Call of Duty would be an expansion to last year’s release, as opposed to a standalone title. Plans have since purportedly changed internally, but some leaked user interface images certainly support that speculation, as it looks largely identical.
We’ll need to wait for official confirmation of all this, but Activision is busy pulling leaked screenshots from social networks like Twitter, so don’t be surprised if more info surfaces in the coming days. A true PlayStation veteran, Sammy's covered the world of PS gaming for years, with an enormous Trophy count to prove it. He also likes tennis games way more than you.
I'm not a Call of Duty hater, but this year's game sounds like the most phoned in instalment they've done so far.
Maybe the official reveal can turn things around, but it sounds like it's going to be a really dry year for the series.
@get2sammyb I'm honestly not gonna complain(other than ruining DMZ with P2W skins)
