Bungie wins cheating lawsuit against AimJunkies
pcgamesinsider.bizDestiny maker Bungie has won its lawsuit against cheat maker AimJunkies.
In a post on Twitter, Game File's Stephen Totilo, the developer has been awarded $63,210 in damages. The jury agreed that AimJunkies infringed on Bungie's copyright by distributing cheats.
The founder of AimJunkies' parent company, David Schaefer, said that the firm will attempt to have this ruling dismissed; if that fails, it will appeal the decision.
"We are grateful for the diligence, professionalism, and care exercised by the Judge, his staff, and the Jury," Bungie's lawyer James Barker said in a statement.
"We're committed to our players and will continue to protect them against cheats, including taking this and future cases all the way to trial."
Bungie initially sued AimJunkies back in 2022, but the case was dismissed as the Destiny maker failed to prove that the cheat maker had infringed upon its trademarks.
Bungie filed its case again, with Phoenix Digital counter-suing, but this was dismissed. AimJunkies had to pay out $4.3 million via an arbitration ruling at the start of 2023.
