Haynes and Raymond both previously worked with Winslet on Mildred Pierce. Based on James M. Cain’s 1941 novel of the same name, Mildred Pierce saw Winslet play the titular character alongside Guy Pearce as Monty Beragon, Evan Rachel Wood as Veda Pierce, and Miriam Shor as Ana.
