Oscar-winning actress has revealed that she is far from being done with portraying and teased that she will return to the to reprise the role. Captain Marvel was introduced in the franchise through the 2019 eponymous movie. Larson returned to portray the character in Avengers: Endgame (2019), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), Ms. Marvel (2022), and The Marvels (2023).
Larson indicated in a recent interview that she knew what the future held for her MCU character. Although Captain Marvel made over a billion dollars at the global office, The Marvels was a commercial disappointment, leading to speculations about what lay ahead for the character in the franchise.
Larson appeared on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast to talk about her critically acclaimed miniseries Lessons in Chemistry, which began streaming on Apple TV Plus between October 13, 2023, and November 22, 2023. The actress, who received an Academy Award for her outing as Joy “Ma” Newsome in the 2015 feature Room, was inevitably asked about her future in the MCU and whether she would reunite with Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani. The former stars as Monica Rambeau in the MCU, while the latter portrays Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel.
“I just loved being with those ladies so much,” Larson said in response. “And I think that the sentiment of it is so right to me and is much more where I’m at in my life, which is, there’s no one superhero that can save us. It takes all kinds of people that have their own special skill sets and the ability to understand that the brink of disaster cannot be stopped by one. It’s all of us coming together. So that feels really right to me. And you know, as for the future, there’s things that I know, but I can’t tell you.”
When Larson was asked about Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars during the same interview, she became evasive. “I can’t say anything and I can’t even say that I don’t know anything because that might mean that there’s something to say or not say,”
