The SNL 1975 release date has been revealed for Jason Reitman’s movie about the long-running comedy show, and it’s had a title change.
The SNL 1975 release date has been confirmed as October 11, 2024. The movie is now titled Saturday Night.
The October 11 date coincides with the original air date for the first-ever episode of Saturday Night Live back in 1975. The story of the film concerns what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to that first broadcast. Reitman and Keenan have been talking to all living cast, writers, and crew from that night to get a better picture of it.
Jason Reitman is directing Saturday Night from a screenplay he co-wrote with Gil Kenan. Reitman, Kenan, Jason Blumenfeld, Erica Mills, and Peter Rice are producing it.
Reitman and Kenan teamed on Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire earlier this year. That series has its own connection with SNL. Alumni from the show, Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray, starred in the original movie.
The staggering ensemble cast of Saturday Night includes Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels, Rachel Sennott as Rosie Shuster, Cooper Hoffman as Dick Ebersol, Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner, Kim Matula as Jane Curtin, Emily Fairn as Laraine Newman, Dylan O’Brien as Dan Aykroyd, Lamorne Morris as Garrett Morris, Willem Dafoe as David Tebet, Cory Michael Smith as Chevy Chase, Matt Wood as John Belushi, Nicholas Braun as Jim Henson, Tommy Dewey as Michael O’Donoghue, Nicholas Podany as Billy Crystal, Andrew Barth Feldman as Neil Levy, Kaia Gerber as Jacqueline Carlin, J.K. Simmons as comedian Milton Berle, and more.
Saturday Night Live will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. The variety comedy show has birthed all manner of stars over the years, including Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Tina Fey, Chris Farley, Martin Short, Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, Mike Myers, Bill Murray, John Belushi, Will Ferrell, Jason Sudeikis, and Amy Poehler.
