Box Office Results: Moana 2 Beats Out Wicked & Gladiator II Over Thanksgiving Weekend

has beaten both Wicked and Gladiator II at the box office over the five-day Thanksgiving weekend.

Per Deadline, Moana 2 made $135.5 million during its opening weekend; although, the movie technically opened on Wednesday and therefore made $221 million during its five-day opening Thanksgiving weekend. This surpasses Frozen II’s $130.3 million three-day opening, which previously held the record for the best opening weekend for a Walt Disney Animation film.

Wicked and Gladiator II, both of which are now in their second week of release, still held strong, as Wicked made an additional $117.5 million over the five-day weekend and Gladiator II made $44 million.

There are few movies coming out this coming weekend that will likely prove to be much of a challenge at the box office, as A24’s Y2K and the Frank Grillo-starring Werewolves likely won’t do huge numbers and the Amy Adams Nightbitch movie is only opening in limited release. Expect to see Moana 2, Wicked, and Gladiator II continue to rule.
