In their Open Beta Retrospective blog post, Blizzard has announced that the in-game font of Diablo IV will change. Ever since the end of Diablo IV's first Open Beta phase, the development team's choice of in-game font has been a pain point for a majority of the community. Diablo IV Open Beta Retrospective Summary
The sans serif font used in-game has been replaced with a new serif font.For the longest time, Diablo fans around the world enjoyed the grim and dark look of Exocet, the font used in Diablo I, Diablo II, and even Diablo III: Over time, Blizzard began to phase out the extensive use of Exocet and started to introduce more sans serif and «Arial-looking» fonts (left image) in Diablo III. However, Diablo III's development team decided to re-introduce a serif item font with the release of Reaper of Souls (right image): With the announced change to Diablo IV's in-game font, history seems to repeat itself for the better. We don't know exactly how the new font will look — but given the announcement that it will be a serif font, we can expect at least a somewhat stylized font which will fit the overall dark fantasy of the Diablo series.
