Hasbro has announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios has earned about $90 million for the company through licensing since its launch last year. This is up from the $63 million it made for Wizards of the Coast for the fiscal quarter ending September 31st, 2023.
Speaking to analysts over a call (via Bloomberg), Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks said, “As you turn the corner into 2024, in the front half of the year, you’re still going to have the tail from Baldur’s Gate 3.” However, sales will be slower paced compared to the previous two quarters.
Baldur’s Gate 3 exited early access in August 2023 after three years, with total development time clocking in at six years. It launched on PC to universal acclaim, with 96 percent of its 501,173 user reviews on Steam being positive, leading to an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating. The PS5 version followed in September, while the Xbox Series X/S version launched in December.
Several big patches and hotfixes have been released thus far, with Patch 6 coming this week and weighing in at 21 GB. It adds new Legendary Actions in Honour Mode, improved animations for kisses, camp idle animations, and dialogue prioritizing the player character. Stay tuned for full patch notes soon.
